Focus on Momentum; not Consistency

2022 wasn’t my best year when it came to being consistent and having willpower.

To turn this around, I decided to give myself a new challenge this year.

I started small: a simple walk around the block, first thing in the morning.

Then, one day became two days in a row. Then three.

Suddenly, I was building some momentum.

I didn’t know how long I was planning to keep this up. But I carried on anyway.

Morning after morning, walk after walk, one step after the other.

This morning, I made it to 75 days in a row 😁

Here is how walking on a daily basis has benefited me:

👟 Reduce stress and anxiety by being in nature.

👟 Stimulate creativity by letting my mind wander.

👟 Learn on-the-go by listening to insightful podcasts.

👟 Build resilience by choosing to walk at any early hour.

👟 Increase and sustain my energy levels throughout the day.

👟 Brainstorm solutions to personal and professional challenges.

👟 Strengthen my self-confidence by showing up regardless of how I feel.

👟 Embedding one positive habit causes a ripple effect in other areas of my life.

👟 Reflect on the day or week — assess what’s gone well and what could be improved.

Above all, I learnt that it is better to first shoot for momentum (the short-term game).

Consistency will take care of itself later 😎

What experiences have helped you be consistent in your daily habits?
